This is the final post for now about the shooting position which deals with head position.

There is much more to be said about the subject in the future. Many details not coming through in introductory posts like these ones which requires an entire post by themselves. Rules to Adhere to – Air Rifle

Shooting is a technical sport that relies on equipment for performance. We have rifles, additions to rifles (buttplates, front sights etc), clothes, ranges and supporting equipment like electronic trainers and shooting stands. Equipment changes and become better, requiring rules to be re-worked and amendments added to stay up-to-date. This means that over time, the number of rules have added up and are now extensive. Not all rules are directed directly to the shooter; many are for range officers, the construction of ranges and equipment controls. It’s still good to know them, but these are things that should work without any interference from the shooter. It’s not your job to make sure the light condition at the range is correct or that the correct measuring device is used in the equipment control. Continue reading

The Finalized Rules for 2013-2016

The rules for the next Olympic cycle (2013 – 2016) has now been finalized. Before we only had a summary to look at which almost created more questions than it answered. Some of these were answered in the weeks that followed (mainly what vibration reduction systems refers to) but most proposed rules became heavily discussed, stirring up emotion. The two petitions circulating were proof of this (the first one against the new finals format and the second against changes to clothing rules).

Now that we know what changes are coming, lets take a look at what will affect air rifle shooters. Continue reading
